Accommodation

We currently have 25 single rooms, all with en-suite facilities.
Ground Floor: 8 Rooms      First Floor: 9 Rooms      Second Floor: 8 Rooms

We have a main lounge, 2 quiet lounges and a separate dining room, all centrally heated. Residents are encouraged to use these public rooms. However, many residents prefer, from time to time, to stay in their own rooms and meals are taken by residents in their own room regularly.

Admissions

Clients interested in coming to Peregrine House are encouraged to visit us and sample the atmosphere and level of service we provide. We often arrange day-care on a regular weekly basis while waiting for a vacancy. This gives the client time to get to know the staff and adjust to new people and surroundings. A month's trial period as a resident is always given before taking permanent residence.
Prior to admission it is the normal policy of Peregrine House that the manager and/or deputy manager visit any potential resident in their own home or in hospital, if that is the present residence. This visit is to assess care needs and these are established by this visit as well as by obtaining as much relevant information as can be gathered from medical, nursing and social service staff, as well as family members. This allows the admission to be planned and any specialist requirements put in place before the day of transfer to Peregrine House. Only in very rare cases of emergency it is sometimes appropriate to admit the resident before completion of these formalities but this will usually only be done at the request of medical or social services staff.
